ABOUT CIVIL ENGINEERING

The Department of Civil Engineering at M.A.M Polytechnic College was established in the year 2008 with an intake of 120. The DCE (Civil) Program was duly approved by the AICTE and affiliated to DOTE, Chennai.

The strength of the department lies with its well qualified and dedicated faculty, Skilled supporting staff, well established laboratories, excellent infra structure and disciplined& hardworking students. Civil engineering is a broad field of engineering that deals with the planning, construction, and maintenance of fixed structures, or public works, as they are related to earth, water, or civilization and their processes. Most civil engineering today deals with power plants, bridges, roads, railways, structures, water supply, irrigation, the natural environment, sewer, flood control, transportation and traffic. In essence, civil engineering may be regarded as the profession that makes the world a more agreeable place to live in.

One of the most challenging and equally rewarding careers, Civil Engineering is the most creative and demanded field among engineering aspirants. Candidates with crazy interest in designing and building things, along with excellent knowledge in Mathematics, can enjoy a successful career in this branch.

The Department of Civil Engineering has well defined curriculum which aims at training the students in various fields.

Department Objectives

  1. We aim our academic performance result 100%
  2. Our target for campus interview placement 100%
  3. We conduct four assosiation for every semester by expertices in civil field
  4. We conduct two state level technical symposium and one national level technical level symposium.
  5. We organize four industrial visits and one In-Plant Training in every sem for practical knowledge of the students.
  6. Wegiving civil software training to the student whichwill pay way for his career.
  7. To provide practical exposure to the students through modern laboratories.

Vision

To carry on the heritage and pave way for the future, to establish a new culture for society and nurture spirit and talent.

Mission

To develop and disseminate effectively the technical information aimed at improving the infrastructure and environmental well-being of their society. The Programme aims to provide a well-rounded and superior engineering education that produce talented Engineers and creative engineers.

To strive and produce WHOLESOME Civil Engineers who can tackle

  • The multiple responsibilities of analysis, design and construction of traditional and modern structures.
  • The problems encountered in the areas of environment, water resources, transport, urban planning & remote sensing.
  • The socio-cultural and economic gamut of civil engineering practice encompassing public utilities and services.
  • Impart education to process - based functional design, analysis including computer based analysis, field design problems with relevant standards and construction and execution of housing, industrial, irrigation and environmental structures.
